If you read my blog regularly, you might already have seen these 2 videos I made about my son.
If you don't read my blog regularly....well, what's wrong with you?!?!?!?!
Just kidding.
If you don't know it yet, I'm the proud mom of a young man on the spectrum and I love him so much!
These videos were made about him to raise awareness about Autism.
Autism is a developments disability that affects several areas such communication, learning and social interaction.
When most people think about Autism, they picture in their head a person that doesn't talk, makes noises and flaps their hands.
While this is true, there are also lighter forms of Autism that can go hidden for a long time.
Looking at my son, it will take you a while to see that he's "different", but nonetheless he's affected by this disability. Plus he was diagnoses with ADD and Tourette Syndrome.
I, myself, have a light form of Asperger. I fake through things most of the times so people won't see it too well, but it's there.
Learn about Autism.
While we can be prepared for "typical" people, the world still needs to be prepared about us.
Few weeks ago, I stumbled upon some very inspirational work that I want to share with you all. it all started with the picture above.
I think it's the coolest 3D sidewalk painting in history in my opinion. With a little bit of research, I was able to find a video on youtube where they show how they make it.....simply amazing!
Have you ever turned on the radio in your car and just found the perfect rhythmic song to bright the day and make it easier to wait that long red light?
I listen to radio frequently and one afternoon picking up the kids from school, I came across a song from Pink, that I really liked. And bonus points, the radio put it on a couple of times during the couple of hours I spent in the car.
Now, since English is only my second language, I must confess that sometimes for me is really difficult to catch ALL the words of a song, but I'm able to catch some of it and the superficial meaning of it. Then I go home, research the song on the internet, listen it to it again (and again and again and again.....lol) via you tube and find the lyric on google so I can really appreciated the message that the author is sending out.
This was the case this time. All I can catch from the radio was "You're perfect" and "Pretty pretty please". I put the volume up high the second time the song was on, so my daughter in the back can listen to it, since she always says "Pretty pretty please".
I arrive home and start my search. With luck I found the lyric that left me.....well, I let you see for yourself.
Made a wrong turn Once or twice Dug my way out Blood and fire Bad decisions That's alright Welcome to my silly life Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood Miss "no way it's all good" It didn't slow me down Mistaken Always second guessing Underestimated Look, I'm still around...
Pretty, pretty please Don't you ever, ever feel Like your less than f**ckin' perfect Pretty, pretty please If you ever, ever feel Like your nothing You're f**ckin' perfect to me
You're so mean When you talk About yourself You are wrong Change the voices In your head Make them like you Instead So complicated Look how big you'll make it Filled with so much hatred Such a tired game It's enough I've done all i can think of Chased down all my demons see you do the same
Pretty, pretty please Don't you ever, ever feel Like your less than f**ckin' perfect Pretty, pretty please If you ever, ever feel Like your nothing You're f**ckin' perfect to me
The world stares while i swallow the fear The only thing i should be drinking is an ice cold beer So cool in lying and we try, try, try But we try too hard, it's a waste of my time Done looking for the critics, cuz they're everywhere They don't like my jeans, they don't get my hair Exchange ourselves and we do it all the time Why do we do that? Why do I do that? Why do I do that?
Ooh, pretty pretty pretty, Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel Like you're less then, f**ckin' perfect Pretty pretty please if you ever ever feel Like you're nothing you're f**ckin' perfect, to me You're perfect You're perfect Pretty, pretty please if you ever ever feel like you're nothing you're f**cking perfect to me
WHAT??? How didn't I picked the F bomb in this song???? And let my 5 yo singing it all day long???? Geeesh, mu hearing and my English must really suck bad if I didn't pick up on that!!!!!
Still, I do love the message of the song and I wish more teens and pre teens will listen to it.
Then one day I stumbled across a video of the same song posted on facebook by one of my friends....the same song...without the F word!!! So I didn't dream it about it!
Turns out my radio station is family friendly, so they transmitted the version of the song that didn't contain any curse words.
Here I'm sharing it with you (but please if they are children around abstain to watch this, even tho the song is clean, the video is very strong).

I'm writing, what I'm saying below.
Hi, this is Lu. I'm going to start a series of videos on youtube to help me promote my business because times are tough right now, money is tight and I really need a boost to help arrive at the end of the month.
I hope you can understand my accent: I came from Italy and English is my second language and I'm really not used to talk in English in public. So, If you have any difficulties understanding me, I will make a close captioning on my blog and post the link in the details of this video for you to click on and read what I'm saying if your cannot understand it. I want to talk a little bit about my business. I opened a little shop called "Crocheted Little Things" and in the very beginnings I really didn't know what I wanted to do with it, just wanted to crochet and sell something, but then I started crocheting cupcake and I had lots of fun making them. Everyone likes them and I'm trying to expand my line, including more food-related stuff and I hope you're going to like it too, so I'm going to show you something that I made. Those are good examples of what I make:
This is a red velvet cake, with a turquoise blue top frosting and this
is one of the cupcakes that I made for Easter. I think the light is really bad and I don't think you can really see the colors, but the yarn is really rainbow looking with sparkles of white, pink, green, blue and yellow and I think was really cute for Easter. I make those with a little weight on the bottom, so they can stand on a table and they can be used as pincushions from seamstresses, so they can have all their pins in place.
Another example, and this is really new and I'm really proud of it, is my birthday cake that I made with a candle on it
They have a little stretch cord on the top, and I sold a lot of those like Christmas ornaments. This is the only one that I have in stock right now because Christmas is not here yet, but I'm definitely going to stock on these because during Christmas time they fly off my shelves.
I hope you enjoyed looking at my cupcakes. I'm going to make more videos eventually, showing you more products and I think I'm going to show you some other handmade goodies that I've got from my friends, because there are really really a lots of talents out there (sorry for the beep of my dryer LOL) and I think people don't even know. So, I hope with this videos to give a chance to someone to get noticed and known.
I hope you enjoyed and you can understand my accent. That's all for now, I see ya later, bye!!!
I didn't have a speech prepared and I was kinda of stiff, again I apologize for my accent and grammar. Hopefully with time I'll be able to take better videos and I've few idea for tutorials that you all can enjoy!
