PurrPrints and The Gourmet Cupboard

First, I want to remember all my reader about Satori story (you can read all about her story here).
Today Satori had her surgery and I want to give a special thank you to PurrPrints for donating this cute postcard to me so I could sent it to that little angel at the hospital.

Now, passing on a lighter topic: A while a go I was the lucky winner on some chocolate pie mixes from The Gourmet Cupboard.
They arrived in the mail promptly last week.

Heavenly Chocolate Pie/Cheesecake

I must admit that I never made a pie before (I know, right?!?!) and I was very afraid to waste this delicious mixes, so I decided not to risk it and I used a premade pie shell and filled it with the chocolate delish! The mixes came complete with very easy to follow instructions, 20 minutes and voila'!

I think it looks good for being my very first attempt to make a pie, but the important factor for me was the taste: HEAVENLY is the right term!

I strongly recommend to visit The Gourmet Cupboard, there are a lots of yummy stuff, not only desserts but also dips, breads, soups, meals and beverages!

I think I'm gonna try the beer bread next!

Hershey's Better basket Blog Hop

Thanks to my blog Buffy Kayla of The Eclectic Element, I was included in a great cause that's going on brought to you by Hershey's and a ton of different online bloggers!

Here is some information on the Hershey's Better Basket Blog Hop:

"This Easter season Hershey is all about helping you to create Better Easter Baskets with their special limited edition Easter candies found at Walmart.

More importantly, Hershey wants to promote the idea of going good in our own communities. The Hershey Company is committed to making a difference in the communities where we live in, and has a heritage of giving back to the community."

Thanks to Hershey's and 20 different bloggers looking to blog for a good cause, baskets like the one above were created and given to charities of each bloggers choice to spread Hershey's ongoing message around: We are ALL working together to do good in and out of our own communities!

In addition to those 20 baskets donated to charity, Hershey's is also sponsoring a Better Basket Blog Hop where Hershey will donate $10 per blog post entry for the Children's Miracle Network, up to $5,000.

How fantastic is that!?

If you want to be apart of the blog hop, here are the rules:

* Copy and paste these rules to your blog post.
* Create a blog post giving a virtual Easter Basket to another blogger – you can give as many Virtual Baskets as you want.
* Link back to person who gave you an Easter Basket.
* Let each person you are giving a Virtual Easter Basket know you have given them a Basket.
* Leave your link at BetterBasket.info/BlogHop comment section. You can also find the official rules of this #betterbasket blog hop, and more information about Better Basket with Hershey’s there.
* Hershey’s is donating $10 per each blog participating to the Better Basket Blog Hop to Children’s Miracle Network (up to total of $5,000 by blog posts written by April 4th, 2010).
* Please note that only one blog post by each blog url will count towards the donation.

So not it's my turn to give away some virtual Easter Baskets:

1. Sweet Irie Originals
2. Risky Beads
3. Va Beach Quilter
4. Taking time for Mommy
5. Recipe Korner
6. Mommy's Survival
7. Outta Sight
8. Made For Me by Oaklie

So please, please, please feel free to take the picture above and write your own blog post! Remember, it's for a good cause :)

Randomness Saturdays

Coming from cleaning the bathroom floor due to an overflowing toilet, here it is!

♥ Update on Michelle: Her ears seems to be perfectly fine now but she got a cold virus. I guess we simply can't win.

♥ Update on Gabriel: He's keeping doing great. We had another baseball game and he hit the baseball by himself at his second try. Made mom and dad really happy!

♥ My March Madness promotion is still going: Use the code MARCHMADNESS during check out to be entered in a drawing for a 25$ Gift Certificate from my shop! Few More days left, so hurry!

♥ Easter is almost here: What are your plans? We decided not to make plans. We will wake up, see if everybody is in good health, the planet all aligned and in base on how much money will have on our pockets we'll go do something fun.

♥ The song I'm gonna share tonight: I Will remember you by Sarah Mclachlan. For some reason makes me go back in time, when my sister was 5 (kinda like my kids age) and we used to play and fell asleep reading stories and I always asked her if she would remember me and the time together when she grew up in a teenager....well, she does remember me ;)

A shop I love: TheStraightStitch

I found another treasury in twitter land and I'm going to share it with all of you: TheStraightStitch.

Parasols Cutlery Wrap, $10 by TheStraightStitch

Another plastic fork broken mid-salad? Another plastic knife for the landfill?

Have you been tempted to carry your own cutlery with you, for the good of the the environment, for convenience or to avoid that irritating broken fork salad situation?

Keep your flatware clean and tidy in this handy and stylish cutlery roll-up. The flap folds over to keep your cutlery from falling out, so you can toss this into your bag without even thinking about it. There's even a pocket for your napkin, cloth or paper, whichever you choose. Flip the wrap over and it would make a great little place mat.

Measures 10"x12". Comes from a smoke a pet free eco-home. Machine wash cold (preferably) and hang to dry.

Retro Flowers Cutlery Wrap, $10 by TheStraightStitch

Randomness Saturdays

Like *almost* every Saturday here it is!

♥ Update on Michele's mom health: She's at home now, still in pain, but on her way to recovery!! Healing vibes her way!!

♥ Update on Michelle's health: For the series, "It get worse before it starts getting any better" (right Kayla??), she got thrush all over her mouth back to her throat. Is going to clear up in a couple of days. I found some discharge on her pillow: hopefully whatever was inside her ear came out and she will probably not need any more medications or surgery. I will know more details on Wednesday.

♥ Update on Gabriel: He's doing great! He had another baseball game today and this time I took some picture (not great since Michelle was on my lap!)
I know I'm partial, but I think he's handsome like his daddy! You can see more pictures on my Facebook.

♥ My friend Allison started a blog: Mommy's Survival. She blogs about her story about being a mom, the circumstances about the birth of her second child (she's a young mom of 3) and reading her blog I found out she made a post about my cupcake with flower! I hope you all will enjoy reading about her.

♥ I won a yummy giveaway from The Gourmet Cupboard: mix for chocolate pie! Can't wait to cook it and to show it off (before it hits my belly! lol)

♥ And I leave you all with another song I love: No one by Alicia Keys

Happy Saint Patrick day and prayers needed!

Happy Saint Patrick day! I Hope you enjoy my findings!

On a serious note: prayers are need.
Michele's (Sweet Irie) mom was rushed to the hospital 2 days ago for an emergency surgery. I don't have any other details other than that, but please pray for her, for a fast healing.

And if you all don't mind, pray for my daughter Michelle too? The antibiotics are not working and we're going to have to put tubes in her ears. Thanks!

Say WHAT?????

I was scrolling in the news title on the web and this article caught my eyes: Teacher Writes 'Loser' on School Paper.
Say WHAT???? I'm sorry, I usually don't engage in personal judgment on my blog 'cause I don't like to point fingers. But, this article touch 2 topic very dear to me at the moment: teaching and children.

Most of you know that I'm working my way in the teaching field and I LOVE children (not just my own) and there is no way that I can justify this teacher behavior. He must no be in his right mind and he needs to seek help ASAP before ruining the self esteem to poor innocent children.

It's also sad that in this recession, there are a lot of people that are unemployed and would do a wonderful job while people like this are allowed to have a job in such a way.
I really hope the school will do the right thing and remove this "teacher" from his position before he does more damages.

I just finished to read a very interesting book: The Biology of belief by Bruce Lipton. Dr Lipton empathize the importance of parents and caregiver figures in passing on children their believes. If you're told by young age that you're worthless and unloved, you grow up with that belief in your subconscious and it will take years to convince you that that's not the truth.
I invite all of you reading this post of mine to find a person in your life (family member, friend, coworker) and start showing your appreciation to them verbalizing and stating that they are doing a good job. Observe this person for months and you'll be amazed by the difference.

I saw it everyday with children with special needs: believe that they will accomplish things and they will. And the satisfaction inside is so sweet and has no price...

Randomness Saturdays

Almost sleeping on the key board but here I am :)

♥ Update on Michelle's Health: My baby had still discomfort and pain to both her ears. I brought her to the doc again that told me that even if the infection cleared up, could be that she still have "stuff" between her ears and her nose. Sooooooo, we're on antibiotics again for the next 2 weeks and if that doesn't take everything away we'll have to put tubes inside her ears.

♥ Update on Gabriel: We got his first baseball game today and he had a lots of fun! I failed to bring my camera and take pictures, but he's smiling and energy today was amazing and I enjoy every second of it!

♥ I feel really tired. I actually I felt this way all week and I'm not sure way. If I seat for more than 2 minutes, my eyes close by themselves.....what's going on??? Not sure, but whatever it is, I hope it will go away soon.

♥ Crocheted Little Things Newsletter is coming up in few days.
Have you subscribed yet? If not, you can do it here.

♥ Movies that I'm watching. My hubby introduced me to the Terminator series and the Transformers. Not crazy about either. The Terminator stories has major flows and the new Transformers movie is, in my opinion, a movie to entertain teenagers, definitely not me.

♥ Song that I'm gonna share tonight: Bubbly by Colbie Caillat. She's the sister of Jennifer Aniston, I discovered her recently and I LOVE her voice. This song in particular is sweet and fresh. Enjoy!
