Where is my seat?????????

Since I started working during my week ends, I guess my daughter Michelle is getting a little lonely with 2 boys in the house, so she organizes tea parties with her "friends".

Thing is, her guest basically invade the living room, especially the couch, so the above is a scene that happens often in my household.

This is what I mean when I say that I could seat and rest for my minutes: it's because my seat is taken!!!!!!!!!!

Men working

This is the sign I see when I exit the park where my house it's located and......it IRKS me.
I know it's silly, because I understand it's meaning: they're men working on the road and cars need to watch out for it. No different from "ROAD WORK" to me, just specifying that there are people walking on the curb I guess.

But I can't suppress the urge to slap one on my front door saying "WOMAN WORKING", ya know? Or any other household door (not just mine)

It's like.........what? MEN are more important of WOMEN??? Are we really still there?
Yup, believe it or not we are. Just few days ago my hubby let it slip after I asked him to clean the lawn: "Why don't you do it? You sit home doing nothing all day while I'm at WORK"
(Discussion quickly resolved with a kick on his groins)

Ladies and gentleman, we're in the middle on 2011 and MEN still think they are the one WORKING while we stay-at-home-mom (well me partially as I work on the week ends) staying home watching soap opera and eating chocolate. What? The laundry? the cooking? the cleaning? the children?? BUT we WOMEN enjoy all that, don't we??? oh, and running a business???? that's not even a REAL job, you do that from home so doesn't count. So you all entrepreneurs out there, nope you don't fool any one!

I think I'm going to lit the sign on fire.....

Birthday presents

First thing first let me tell you that the parents night out went very well. Me and hubby went to eat to an Italian restaurant and then during our stroll to kill time, we ended up ice skating. Since was the first time for me, I only walked around the perimeter of the place, but I won't give up, I plan to go back and learn properly.
And so far, no catastrophe had to happen, YET.

Now, onto my birthday presents.
My nephews came to visit and I was greeted with a "care" bag with a sweet little card, 2 soap bars, an hair wrap and a bottle of bubble bath.

My dearest friend Kayla (The Eclectic Element) surprised me with the second card in a week that made me laugh out loud and my mother in law provided the cute fabric you can see above. I foresee a cute dress for a little somebody in my house.

We spent the day catching up and eating before I had to go to work.
We also set up a water slide in the back yard, but only my daughter and my youngest nephew obliged.

But the hit of the day was definitely a little kitty my MIL brought to play with Michelle. Too bad we couldn't keep it :(

Parents night out!

Gabriel's school is hosting another parents night out tonight. The therapists will watch the kids enrolled in the school and their siblings, so the parents can have a 3 hours date worry free!! Me and hubby haven't decided what to do in 3 hours yet, but if will sure include a meal somewhere without the requirement of a playground or coloring menus to entertain the children lol

We already had one and was back in January....as much as we enjoyed, was with much horror that we come home from it and found the eviction note in our mail. So call me paranoid, as much as I'm happy to go out tonight, I'm very worried about what I will wake up to tomorrow.

But I try to keep it positive.

And on that positive note, I thought it would be nice to share some progresses that Big G (as we call Gabriel now) had made in the past weeks:
♥ He was telling me a story about a book he read at school. I didn't know that story, but he saying made perfect sense. When I brought him to school, he runs to pick up the book to show it to me and starts reading to me. Now his reading and comprehension it's nothing really new, but he's ability to memorize and summarize a story and being able to explain it in a way that made sense to another human being totally is. His growing interest in something that is not a video game is also very encouraging.
♥ He accepted bacon, turkey bacon and a little bit of steak introduced in his diet. He even tried (all by himself) celery and accepted to eat strawberries with his sister.
♥ He made the most cute ceramic tile for my husband for Father's day (I will be sure to make a post about it).
♥ Yesterday when our neighbor nephew stopped by to play with him and offered him a lollipop, he smiling accepted it without retrieving and making a disgusted face. He enjoyed the candy and then engaged appropriately in a hide-and-seek game involving Michelle too.
♥ Picking him up from school, he made me a small red paper heart and wrote "I love you mommy" that simply melted my heart.
♥ He also accepted to get back to soccer games even after the ball in the face he took last fall.

Cheer on!

By now, we all know how my first craft show went (you can read about it HERE)
so you can imagine I bummed I was.

But I'm lucky because I have wonderful friends always ready to cheer me up! So this is what I found in my mail box, the Monday following my disastrous experience:

I got the sweetest card from Kayla of The Eclectic Element and my talented friend Alicia of Sewn from the heart gifted me with a travel tissue cover and a business cards holder in the fabric that matches the apron I bought from her especially for my show. She told me that was the very first business card holder she ever made....it looks perfect to me! What do you all think??

Time for a personal post

I realized it's been a while since I did an overall personal post, so I thought today might be a good time. It's raining and gray outside, weather like time brings me to sit and think about things.
I think I'm pretty much on a sweet spot right now (well, craft show failure aside lol)
My birthday is coming up Sunday, and that will make me 29 years old.
I have a new job, 2 wonderful children, a husband that loves me, a business that is growing (thank you all so much for that!), moved in a better place and got to know lots of new people. Some of them even think I'm awesome (they don't know any better lol)

Gabriel's recovery is still going forward and strong. Yesterday he surprised me with prepping the table for dinner and clean it up afterward.....I didn't even ask!
And again this morning he announced to me that he's too old to be walked in school by mommy, he wants to do it himself.
The teachers explained to be that these behaviors are normal for a "typical" 7yo (one without autism that is), so basically Gabriel conquered some new milestones and put his foot a little be more forward his recovery.

Michelle is growing taller and beautifully sweet! She will go to kindergarten in August and I still can't believe she's old enough for that.
She's growing a love for Barbies, so watch out for crocheted Barbie's clothes on here soon, 'cause I'm sure she will ask some customized one! She has a lots of fantasy and I'm sure she will come up with some wonderful suggestions for me.

And I actually have to run to crochet now. My dream of waking up with nothing else to do other than crochet is being a reality lately and I'm loving it any minute of it. So if you see me blogging less, it's just because I'm crocheting, without a worry in my head for once....

Fiasco

The show was a real fiasco and totally didn't go as I expected it.
Above is how my booth looked like....I had to leave some of the items inside my suite case 'cause the table was smaller that I was promised, so I had to cram as much as possible in the space I had.

Aside for a lots of "ohhh" and "ahhh" and for "OMG your stuff is so cute....did you make it yourself???" I didn't get much action. I didn't sell even one thing and was able to hand out a whopping 5 business cards.......2 were to children :(

I did learn a few things tho:
1- I will NOT do outdoor show in Florida. The heat made my nose bleed and the wind knocked my displays over like 500 times.
2- Next time I will make sure to participate to art&craft show only: this event included rummage and used goods vendors too (and cheapo resellers) and the crowd was looking for a few bucks deal, not high end crochet nick knacks.
3- Next time, I will go check out the event before deciding to participate: the exact dimensions of the table, space available around it, number and type of vendors and if they allow soliciting....which it would have been ok if the solicitors were charged the same fee of me, but this wasn't the case.
4- I did create a bit of interested when I started crocheting "live": so that's definitely something I will keep doing.

I guess that pretty much sums it up. Archived like a lesson learned for next time with a bruise on my pride.

Sneak Peak

Busy busy busy for the craft show tomorrow and I neglected my little ol' blog.
But I thought tonight I will give a little sneak pick of what's coming. Of course, tomorrow I will time tons of pictures too, but in the mean while here something for you to look at.

This will be my main displays: I have one for jewelry and key chains

And another one for my Christmas ornaments

Let's see who's the first reader to find where I used empty toilet paper rolls in my displays....can you guess??? lol

I will be sporting a shirt with my website made by BadInkClothing

And a nice comfy and colorful apron from Sewnfromtheheart

You'll have to wait tomorrow for the rest :P
