ROAR!!

I'm one of the lucky person that at the beginning of the school year was able to find a job in the school system as a cafeteria monitor.
I love my job as it allows me to interact with children between ages of 5 to 10 and it's only 3 hours per day, so I don't get burned out from it: I like that I have plenty time to recharge for the next day.

One of my duty (among a billion of other) is to make sure that the kids have all they need to have a comfortable time during lunch, like silver wares, napkins, straws and such.
That means a lot of walking back and forth between the containers at the end of the room and the various tables and reminding who asked me what.
It's not very easy, so I decided to cut the chase and wear an apron where I could accommodate all the goodies is various pockets and give a quick and accurate service to each child in the room.

And what better way to do this if not with an handmade apron made by Alicia from Sewn From The Heart
I already had her cupcake apron she made for me a while back, but since the mascot of the school is a tiger, I asked her to handcraft 2 more aprons for me and my coworker to honor the mascot.
And she beautifully delivered!

The kids were thrilled to see the new aprons at lunch time!!!

I love working with Alicia, she always understand exactly what I want and her products always exceed my expectations.

Must be reciprocal as she also wrote some lovely words about my creations on her blog: go check it out!

I'm going banana!

Do you remember when I posted about The One race almost a month ago
As it was to be expected, I had lots of muscle pain in the days following the race.
Anticipating this, I bought my self a lots of bananas as I've read that it benefit muscles especially when they hurt from exercise.
What I didn't know is that hubby had exactly the same thought and the day after the race he came home with even more bananas for me.

That meant that I had more bananas that I ever thought possible!

And I also have a secret to share with all of you: I hate bananas!
I don't really care for the taste, I can't stand the soggy texture and I really don't like the smell either.

Don't give me wrong, I know they are healthy (even tho among all the fruits they are the ones with more sugar in it) and I do occasionally even crave them, they come in handy as you don't need a knife to peel them, but there were way too many bananas around me now and I couldn't possibly eat them all.

But I wasn't going to waste them, so I had to come up with a way to use them up and that's when I found a couple of recipe that helped me achieve this goal and I thought to share those recipes on here for future references.

My go-to recipe when I need to eat bananas but I don't feel like it, it's definitely the chocolate and banana muffins from Handle the Heat

Here is how the muffin baked by me look like

I love this recipe as she used whole wheat flour instead of white flour and applesauce instead of butter and 3 whole bananas for a dozen of muffins.
The muffin are very well sized and only 100 calories each! Perfect for breakfast or for a snack that doesn't add to my waist line.

The other recipe I love is a drink that used peanut butter too, another thing that I don't really eat often unless I have an hormonal surge.
I don't have a picture of the drinks I gorged down, but I found the recipe on the Chichita website: just click on the picture and make one for yourself!

Very handy to use up those jars of peanut butter and have a breakfast on the go for those busy morning.

Thanks to these 2 recipes, I was able to accomplish my mission to use up all the bananas before they turned bad and eat a healthy amount of them.

Do you have any banana recipe to share with me?

Hats!

With Halloween coming, I went on a quest to crochet as many silly hats as possible.
You might remember my previous creations:

I recently made new versions of my unicorn hat:

So here I present to you my new creations, like the dino hat:

 And the owl hat

But even when Halloween is over, they still make stylish head wear for winter, don't you think?

What else should I work on next?

I'm feeling frogs lately.....

More cupcakes in the house!

Do you know by know that I have a cupcake fetish, right???

And if you didn't, well, where have you been????

I've showed you how I decorated my full kitchen with cupcake curtains and table decor over the spring break (READ ABOUT IT HERE).

Well, I found the cutest little towels to complement the look in hillsidebakery shop

Don't they look just......SWEET????

But what I like about Lisa's work is the care for details and the wonderful resistant stitching.

Already thinking about the next set for the bathroom...... post signature

Pumpkin patch

As a ritual, this year we went to visit the pumpkin patch just like last year

I love how, the more the kids get older, the more are able to enjoy the surrounding.

Specially Gabriel, he wasn't so overwhelmed and over stimulated as in the past. Indeed, he loved to play with the other children in the bouncy house!

Michelle's favorite activity instead is the petting zoo. She spent almost all the time there with a bunny on her lap

You've figured by now that my kids are going as a ninja turtle and as Princess Merida (from the movie Brave) for Halloween, right? LOL

We did have lots of fun and me and hubby even let the children take a few shots of us

More pictures of the day are available on my facebook page of course! Enjoy fall and the pumpkins!

French Manicure

I want to thank my sweet friend Eva for gifting me this wonderful mani job last Sunday.

It was her birthday but she ended up buying me the manicure, go figure.

Wanna know last time I had a manicure???? My wedding day, almost 10 years ago.....EEEEKKKK

 It was way over due!!!

But Since I don't get to go often, I was a little overwhelmed by the options, so I took the safe route and went with french manicure.
The picture doesn't give it justice, it was really neatly done and so shiny!!!

Thanks Eva!!!

Weight update #6

I thought was about time for another weight update, this time with measurement and all, since it's been a while since I measured myself (August to be exact!)

So, here my measurements for this month:
Chest: 37"
Waist: 32"
Hips: 41"
Thigh: 23"
Arm: 11"

It seems that since last time I shaved 1 inch off my chest (seriously, can they get any smaller?????), 2 inches off my waist and hips (which feels awesome!), 1 inch off my arms (I've been slacking on my weights) and no changes on my thighs (GRRRRRR).

All considering, not bad at all.
Even my weight, is only half of a pound up.
Considering that weight fluctuates 2 pounds up or down, I'm not too upset about it.
I'm now able to run 0.5 mile with jogging speed without stopping, after 1 mile of power walking to warm up, not bad!

Speaking of Autism......

Since I was prepping for the 5k, I was inspired to make this videos about my kids and of course Autism.

I know that it's not Autism awareness month yet, but I thought I will go ahead and make them up so I'd have them ready for April.

Nonetheless, I hope you all will enjoy them
